I was planning on going, until ..... I flew down to Turnfest at the end of March.

Came back with the 'flu from hell! Not COVID as I've been RAT tested before boarding in BNE then straight off the plane in TSV by our Clinical Nurse daughter multiple times since. Still not really on top of it, and feeling veeery tired! Not a good combo with my heart issues!!!

Not a great recipie for the TSV - Maleny return trip in my BT50. Still got my fingers crossed though.

Enjoy it! I've been twice with a 3 day pass - simply too much to see & learn if you really are into wood, plus you never know who you will bump into.

I am planning to go whatever day my mate is available. Concerned about the traffic jam on highway with it being a long weekend & everyone heading to/from the Sunshine Coast. Wish it started Friday.

I was thinking of heading up on Saturday but the weather doesn't look good.

Sunday or Monday may be a better bet although as mention by Pete57...traffic back to Bris on this Monday holiday arvo would be a bitch.

Unfortunately, I won’t be going this year after all. Maybe next year.

We'll be heading there pretty early on Saturday, though I hadn't thought about long weekend traffic. Is on-site parking normally an issue?

I'll say this much, I'm glad we went early. Really busy show, huge range of stalls.

Just got back from the show, was a good day.
Good range of stalls food/tools , timber selection was a little disappointing mostly slabs and box making/turning size pieces.
The highlight for me was the studio woodworkers display, some really nice pieces. It was also cool to see Evan Dunstan's lovely chairs in real life, I'd love to have the funds/time for one of his workshops oneday.
I managed to snag a nice bit of reclaimed red mahogany 3000x165x50 for $50 and couple of nice Shinwa rulers.

I was there today and back again tomorrow for the steam bending cause.

I was hoping there might be a few old tool sellers, but everything was new.

Planning on making the trip up this year as I’m new to this side of the country. Keen to know what sort of workshops were on for the 23 show?

Don’t think I’ll take the trailer but will take an empty Ute up and camp somewhere nearby for a few days

I haven't been since pre-COVID, however it's a great event with lots of timber vendors and plenty of interesting things happening, Lucas Mills operating, chainsaw carving, woodturning demo's etc. A few basic workshops, Japanese carving tools, chop stick making, but no advanced woodworking workshops iirc.

workshops have been posted. Workshops - Maleny Wood Expo

considering the spoon carving workshop, i hear HNT Gordon will have a stand there this year which will be good. Aside from the workshops it seems it will be HNT and Timber procurement on the agenda if i go both days. Dont know anyone else going so might be a solo trip up

I’ve signed up to the spoon woodcarving workshop. Might just go for the two days sat and Sunday. Looking forward to it
