Fitting window to existing wall
Okay, so I have been restoring and double glazing some big old Timber Victorian Sidelight windows, very slowly.
Now I have a question regarding how the window sill will sit in the wall and what the experts out there might do in this situation.
Wall:
Plaster = 10mm
Stud = 70mm (existing timber studs)
Cavity = 20mm
If you refer to the plan I have drawn below the window sill dimensions are all wider than this. Has anyone got any suggestions? I was thinking my only option might be to increase the cavity to 40mm but this creates more headaches with the flashing around the windows.
Think the old sill was done in inches hence the measurements there.
Any tips are greatly appreciated!
