Silky Oak finishes
I am just about to make a Silky Oak table (2.90 x .80) out of a tree we milled 2 years ago. The table will be in every day use out on a covered deck but will be subjected to some weather and the destructive elements of grandchildren. I would be greatful for any suggestions as to the type of finish I should apply which will show the grain. All the Silky Oak furniture I have seen seems to be in a dark finish. Is that normal or is it just the finish that has been appied?
