Hello,
RE-GAS FIREPLACE FAKE STONES NOT USED FOR HEAT...

i have conflicting advice off 3 stores re how many VENTS if any to put in a room.

attempted this chat in question to someone else in another forum. Its got more confusing after asking another fireplace store.

we removed an old log fireplace and have put in a gas coal fire. it is for visual only, no fan, and tiny bit of warmth. WE HAVE HEATING IN THE ROOM via hydronic.

the store we bought the fireplace off says so long as the room gets air under door etc you are okay.

the chimney is open so its flued, but the fire needs air. (or oxygen)

now another store said we need 400cm2 of air. so two vents. they were not sure if the vents had to go outside or too our hallway.

we didnt want to vent outside as it lets so much dust and cold air in and no new display houses we have seen have this.

i was going to put one or two vents from the room into the hallway from the livingroom where the new fireplace is. does anyone have any knowledge if this is okay, and LEGAL???

WE already have the slight air gap you get under any door.

as we are re plastering the room we need to work the vents out.

WE have no hearth either and one store said we need it one said no as its only a decorative fire.

seems simple but even our plumber has different ideas.

another said you need one vent either to outside or another room....in our case the hallway.

anyone including builders, gasfitters etc know the real answer.

im in melbourne victoia

thanks
