Rangehood Wiring problem
I need to connect my Omega canopy rangehood to the electricity supply. Prior to mounting the rangehood I had an electrician install a power cable and a rather bulky power socket (The power socket is not the type which is fixed to the wall, rather it is just attached to the end of the power cable) behind where the flue will mount to the wall.
The canopy rangehood comes with a short power lead and a moulded 3 pin standard plug. The problem is that the rangehood flue is quite narrow and there is not enough room inside the flue for both the rangehood ducting and the plug/socket combination.
I am wondering if it is possible to cut the plug off the rangehood cable and then connect the rangehood cable directly to the power cable, and therefore not use the socket and plug. Sort of hardwiring it so to speak.
Are there ever any fuses etc built into these moulded plugs? Or could the rangehood be directly wired as above?
Thanks for your help in advance!
