    Default A few boxes

I thought it was about time I done something for myself instead of working for the Village mens shed . Boxes of various timbers,
Huon pine with purple heart trim, Redgum with huon inlay, African mahogany? with huon trim and Camphor laurel with dark trim.
Mitred corners with a vertical spline , something different to the corner splines . They were made before the lock down of the shed
due to corona virus, just put the felt lining in today. I'm getting on in years ,the eyesight is not as good as it was. cheers John.

You say things are declining but your quality certainly isn't. A magnificent collection you have created and it's a shame we can't get to see them in real life at the moment.

Great work John. Very glad to see that you are still producing fine quality work.

I have been thinking of you over the past few days as we have set up a desk to work from home on due to Covid, and my wife has put her Huon and sassafras box that you made for us on the desk.

    Stay well.

    Cheers

The ones in photos 1&2 and 5 are my favourites. Simple, elegant designs.

Very impressive boxes. The Huon Pine banding adds a great design element. Congratulations on some very fine woodworking.

All of your boxes are great but the huon with purpleheart is just terrific.

Well you may "getting on in years, the eyesight is not as good as it was" however the quality is there and would put a lot of wood workers many decades younger on notice. The simple foot design and your clean simple understated designs really make these boxes quite impressive.

Lovely work, i fancy the Huon and Mahogany examples. There is a distinct line where the lids meet the boxes, have you put a chamfer on both to get this effect?
