Black Japan or Black Stain
Hi all,
It seems that I have Cypress Floorboards and I have decided to stain them black. THe options are Black Japan or another Black Stain.
I was interested in getting some feedback on the choices. It looks like Black Japan will be a longer process as there are more coats. Will it look that much better?
Also I have heard that it is difficult to apply, is this true, or is it just the number of prepatory and finishing coats?
Thank you all for your time

I used Black Japan to stain a tv cabinet I made and it does require a few coats if you want a more solid look, but I think I did too many coz now the cabinet looks like a laminate cabinet
I've just had my floors stained this week in a walnut colour which is realy quite dark, but you can still see the features of the boards

Lonks,
Thanks for that. I will be speaking to various floor finishers tomorrow to get some opinions. Thanks for your comments
