Default Question about applying a finish over paper

Hi, I am a complete novice with woods.

I have some snippits of a magazine I would like to apply a piece of wood, if I apply the finish over the paper, will it stay? Should I glue the paper first?

Let me know what you think

    Thanks!

    Hi,
Glue them with PVA glue and finish with a water based varnish. Don't work it to much or the ink may run.
    Regards

The process tou are talking about is called decoupage. So if you Google that, you will get lots of specific help.
