GPS locator service in Sydney
My bil is mucking around with this stuff in Sydney, which triangulates a signal from wireless access points to determine your position.
If your in Northern Sydney or CBD or Albury and have wireless internet, then install this toolbar www.loki.com and press Find Me.
Then play with it. Its pretty neat, designed for mobile phones of the future.

This was been done, oh, about 10 years ago. I was involved in some of the initial user testing & it SUCKED big time. Major problems when aircraft flew overhead and other large metalic objects moved near the transmiters or receiver/s.
They perservered with it for a couple of years and then all the gear was ripped out & we never heard from them again.
Wish b-i-l lots of luck, and make sure he has all his super etc. outside the company structure.

Not quite the same, your position is triangulated off existing wireless access points. Like those in peoples houses. It is spectacular
