    Default redgum hall table

    hi all,

This hall table was completed about 2 years ago. Built from one slab of River Red Gum about 3300 x 600 x 55mm in size. The trickiest part of the construction was flattening the top. Couldn't joint it or plane it to uniform thickness using a jointer and thicknesser, so I had to build a sled to run a router on and plane it that way. Turned out very flat. This was my first project with a 'slab' of timber, so I guess I was suprised when little cracks appeared after the planing. A little black epoxy and bob's your uncle

The black accents on the sides are ebony, as are the feet. Lovely stuff that

Finished in EEE and ubeaut traditional wax. That's lovely stuff too

    Thanks for the interest.

    Johnny.

    Hi Johnny,
Nice solid work, looks great! Easy to live with I'd imagine.

That's one solid table for a hall table. Looks like it would go well in a wine cellar. Nice work.
