G'day all,

Our front door is a crappy ali slider an I'd like to replace it with a solid wood hinged door. One bonus of the slider (1800mm wide) is it does let plenty of light in what is a fairly pokey room, at the moment its the only source of light. The room is currently our lounge but will become a rumpus/entry.
Anyway, I would like to run 2 rows of glass bricks either side of the new door to let some light in (the door will probably have glazing strips as well) and I would like some ideas on building a suitable frame to encase the bricks and hold the door. I don't think standard meranti door jamb material will be solid enough plus it has the grooves machined down the back. I guess it would do for the outer stiles and the top but what would I use for the hinge stile? Machine up some hardwood?

Andy
