    Default Racks with a difference.

    It has been one of those oddly productive days... one wherein I not only managed to finish a couple of long-term projects (I may be in peril of contravening the code if I continue like this tomorrow! ) but I managed a couple of one-offs, too.

    My nephew is a cadet in the Army and loving it and his room is still a bit... "kiddy," so we decided to redecorate. These racks are my contribution. The pistol and Steyr are training replicas as used by our lads in the forces, accurately weighted to a full load. I hope my bro doesn't just stick a nail in the wall to hang 'em from.

    Wish I could be there when his lad first sees 'em.

    FWIW, the backing is particle board, the framing Vic Ash (about time I actually got some use from those router bits) and still in need of a finish... I'm thinking just a Danish would look best. The camo is authentic "hearts'n'bunnies" (where do they get these names? Anyone can see it should be called "gummy bears" ) and the patches are also authentic.

    Good one Skew, those guns look a little scary .

    Did you Make the moulding yourself?

    So what is holding the guns to the frames, I cant see anything.

    I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.

    Yup. Would've been easier to run to Bunnies, but I don't think it would've been any quicker...

    (Not a good pic, but good enough.) They're easy to spot in the pix when you know what to look for... the one holding the back of the pistol's a tad awkward but holds well, despite how it looks. Enough that the whole assembly was carried around (while showing it off ) for quite some distance without any sign of slip. [Phew!]

    They both came up good and "blokey".
    Can I just ask what replica the pistol is of? and what age?
    Am asking out of interest, because it lools similar to one that I used to own, which was russian made, and it was about 30 years old at the time.

    The pistol replica's a Browning. A copy of current issues.

    No prob Skew.
    Was interested because I used to be into competitive target shooting, had an old Margolin that looked something similar.

    Let us know what your nephew thinks of them, I am pretty sure that he will be rapt in them.
