Replacing old deck question

Hi all

we have an old deck of the top floor and was looking to replace the decking. I am stuck between putting new decking down or going for "something" over the top that is water proof and can have lino or tiles put over.

My question is what is that something? if it exists.

I know plywood is out but is there anything else.

The deck is 8x3.5m and has a roof over it......

this is the same stuff that goes in the "wet areas" of a house.... not Villaboard but the cement sheeting for floors etc...

If it's within the budget, replace the deck. Timber decks look much better than tiles or lino and will last another 20 years. Much better resale value as well. Covering the old deck could lead to problems down the track.

agreed, and to be honest not sure there's much of a cost difference, was more if we turned it into a sun room then perhaps it would be better having something else down

Of course, if you build it in, then it's a whole new ball game.

But a new Merbau deck looks the bee's cheese. (or if the budget is tight, go for treated pine and stain it)
