Tung Oil Floor Problem
I recently sanded over 100 sq. metres of old baltic pine flooring. Using a "Bio Floor Varnish" product I sealed the timber with what smelt like linseed oil. This caused the first problem as I didn't remove the excess oil which dried tacky. I then scrubbed the excess oil off with terps and a rotary floor sander fitted with a scourer pad, this seemed to work fine. I then applied the first coat of "floor varnish" a Tung Oil based product (not oil based poly). This coat looked ok, so after 3 days drying time I then applied the second coat of Tung Oil. Disaster !!!! The finish looks as though it has been rained on, it has a spotted and dimpled appearance throughout and the owner is not happy.
Can I allow this finish to fully dry, then lightly sand/cut back and recoat or am I going to have to fully resand and start again. A prospect I don't fancy, at all.
HELP!!!!!!!
