    Default The big B

I was in there last week and realised it would be likely to have clear plastic tube I wanted.

It seems normal hardware places still have the rolls of clear tube in various diameters.

These guys have packaged pre cut lengths of several metres at way over the by the standard by the metre prices or short bits of 80mm or so.

As I wanted only a tiny amount to slip over the metalwork of the new stainless steel shower caddy (so it would not scratch the wall tiles). I settled for 80mm of 5mm bore clear tube at 42c .

The same material retails off the roll at the local hardware for $1.00 a meter.
My yearly purchases of tube are not huge but I would have spent $80 a week for the few months that the bathroom was under renovation.

I am po's enough to return to the local hardware for purchases. A bonus is that the guy knows me by name and actually has a working knowledge of what he sells and I can easily get a space in the car park on the week end .
My point, while i understand all businesses are there to make a profit, is that as the big B has got bigger the commitment to its customer has been sliding.

Surely the marketing gurus can understand if you po customers they will shop elsewhere, and possibly pay more on some items, if they feel they are taken for granted.

    Rant over

The latest move from January next year is that suppliers are to use only two transport companies ie Toll or TNT for deliveries to their stores, thus putting a lot of small operators out of the game.Big is beautiful?
