I ordered a 500ml bottle of U-Beaut shellac last week. A few days later I received a phone call from the Melbourne shop to advise me that delivery would be over $100, but he couldn't give me an exact figure until he confirmed the delivery with the courier!

I tried to place an order with Carba Tec Melbourne last week and they said they no longer take orders i would have to go through Brisbane. I rang Brisbane they told me they did not have stock of what i wanted and they would pass the order on to Melbourne.

Yep - it's right up there with

    - doing your banking in the street
    - being charged for the "service" which was once provided as a service
    - when anything bad happens look for someone to blame
    - when anything good happens try to claim the credit
    - getting a ticket 3 weeks after the so called offence
    - spamming cold callers on the phone
    -
I could go on and on and on and on but that might prove me to be an old phart

I was jesting; we don't do Christmas any more since the kids have flown the nest. I can happily report there was not a single piece of Christmas wrapping paper wasted in this household today.

Those hostages sound delicious! We're having homemade turkey and cranberry meat loaf followed by homemade plum pudding ice cream. That's as Christmassy as we feel the need for.

Next time you want hard Shellac give Carroll's a ring 03 5251 3874 or order it online from U-Beaut Polishes (Carrolls do all our online, phone, and mail orders for us) You'll get the freshest product available, no mucking around, same day dispatch and all that without the rediculous delivery charges.

By the way all our shellac prices will be going up from Jan 1st. There has been a massive 87% price increase in the price of shellac from India due to major crop failures. We have been carrying this for the last few months but can't carry it any longer, especially when the base price per kg is only 75 cents below our wholesale price.

Shellac price is tipped to go up by another 40-50% before too long. We have a share in $300,000 half container load purchased just before it actually hit the 87% mark and have enough to carry through till the prices come back down again in a few years. Hopefully.....

    Cheers - Neil

PS Not the first time this has happened. Last time was in 2000.

    Thanks Neil.

I should have investigated further, but silly old me thought that as Carba-Tec are just round the corner a bit from me (but still too far for my scooter batteries!) that dlivery would have been cheap.

I'll place an order with Carroll's this evening or tomorrow.

Just as an aside, now that, maybe, the hot weather will be upon us, is there any mileage Neil in storing this product (and your flakes) in the fridge?

My shed gets to temps in the high 30s or worse over the summer.
    Cheers, Ern
