Dome tube type skylights - which one?
I need to put some skylights into my house to improve the living space.
The north facing roof is about 1.5 m offset from where I need them to go, and the roof is about 1.8m above the ceiling at the peak, with a 28deg pitch.
I have 3 (or more) options
Abey - Bunnings - 400mm - $150
Abey - Bunnings - 400mm - $300
Solatube - 500mm - $670 (fitted - no supply only)
I can't tell the difference (apart from the box) between the two Abey products, I'm hoping someone has fitted them and knows what it is.
The solartube uses a rigid tube that is claimed to be much more reflective than a corrugated tube. At over double, or up to 4 times the price of the cheaper one however, it might just be easier to install 2 cheaper units and spread the light somewhat.
If anyone has fitted any of these, I would appreciate your experiences.
I would ideally like a tube with a selective tint, one that allows light, but blocks heat. They do them for windows, but I haven't found a dome that does it. Again - if anyone knows a selevtive tinted dome, I would be very interested.
Thanx
Paul
