Base for sandstone blocks?
Hi Guys,
I'm laying or rather building a two row high raised garden bed for my brother-in-law on the weekend and wanted to know the best base for the sandstone blocks. He already poured a reasonably level concrete channel / strip for them to sit on.
I was going to use sand with a little cement powder thrown over or mixed in and use that as the base to place the blocks on, get my level and away I go.
What's the real way?
Cheers,
Dr - 307.All decks should be stained....black white black white black white.......after all it would match anything!
All roofs should be covered or tiled.....black colorbond, silver mist, black colorbond, silver mist, black colorbond.........after all, we wouldn't want a mismatch!

Sorry. Thought you were asking "Did BIL have to do the footings or could I have gotten away with just a sand/mortar base?"
In which case, BIL is right and now all you need to do is lay 'em on top using ordinary mortar - as Al said.
