new door jams over old ones
ok wierd question
I am about to be replacing the floorboards in my house, and the skirting boards are incredible bad, rather than just placing the floating floor down and using scotia i have decided to replace the skirting boards
I will be putting the floor boards down first and then placing the skirting boards on top.
I also want to replace the door trims as well, they are equally as damaged and have about 99 coats of paint on them.
The only problem i have is with the door jams, the house is 90year old rendered brick, and the jams are nailed into wooden plugs.
I am really concerned that if i pull the jams off to replace either, A) the walls will fall down, B) it will be a nightmare to replace, as i have looked at one and there is reaaly no level surface to attach too.
The only thought i have had so far is to just attach new door jams inside the old ones, and decrease the door widths..........
Any other ideas? will my idea work?
Any help is always appreciated
