G'day from Sydney
Hi anyone reading, I was looking for some advice. I am going to be building my own house soon and would like to make my own rustic spiral staircase from the trees I have to cut down. I have seen some pictures on google and it looks like the treads which are usually half logs have been shaped into dowels that go right through to the other side of the tree trunk which is the centre post. I was just wondering how to do that.
Also I was wondering how to set the tree trunk on the slab. Should it be set in the concrete or fixed to it? I'd like to use quite a large tree trunk.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions

G'Day & Welcome to a top forum, Paul.
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo especially WIP photos with build notes.
