Dimmer switch help: Light dims and brightens on its own
Hi, I had a dimmer switch installed and it seemed to be working fine to my delight... however when it was being used at night on a low setting it started to brighten and dim on its own... I thought the place was haunted at first then I got my head together and realized that there must be an explanation for this besides ghosts lol.
Ok it was a simple light switch replacement and its a HPM 200VA dimmer switch. Its being used in the kids bedroom so for one standard 240v globe.
Originally I was using a 60w globe but am now using a 25w globe which seems to be more stable... I have put that down to not having to dim the 25w as much as the 60w as it seems to be unstable the more the dial is dimmed.
These are the dimmer switch specs:
Supply voltage: 230-240Vac
Frequency: 50Hz
Max load: 200W incandescant
200W dichroic with wirewound transformer
200VA fan motor
Min load: 10VA
And on the packaging it says: IDEAL FOR: Suits incandescent, fluorescent* and low voltage dichroic lamps. Suits all standard mounting accessories. Ideal for single room applications.
*Requires a filament driver. Consult your electrician.
So my question is why is this happening and what do I need to do to fix the problem?
Cheers.
