    Question Beeswax polish

Hi, I'm wanting to make my own beeswax polish. Equal parts beeswax, boiled linseed oil and turpentine. Should I use mineral turps or gum turps? I've finished the table in BLO, mineral turps & polyurethane mix. Thanks

if you don't mind your house smelling like an oil refinery, use mineral turps. Otherwise use gum turpentine. You don't need the linseed oil either - just beeswax and turpentine is fine. Adjust the ratio of beeswax/turpentine for hard/creamier consistency. There's info on recipes on the NSW Ag site for beekeepers.

Default WHY would you want to?

Beeswax polish is useless at protecting a finish and leaves a sticky residue on everything. It attracts dust and has no other useful purpose, other than exercising your arm muscles. Good furniture wax has a high Carnauba wax content, a hard wax that protects the surfaces and lasts well.

"Natural turpentine" or wood turpentine smells lovely but is highly dangerous to your mental facilities (something not often declared). Be carefukl using it, and ensure it is only in well ventilated spaces. Mineral turps is not quite as dangerous, I understand, but still should only be used in well ventilated spaces.

    I hope that this helps
