Wacky idea or is it practical/feasible
The Boss and I have one of these old housing commission homes that were made in 2 halves and trucked to site before being joined together. Each half is a very strong and structurally sound building. I was up in the roof today and just had this wild thought.
Would it be relatively easy (also relatively cheap) to remove the ties between the halves ; these are only short horizontal 4X2s nailed across the wall top plates and roof rafters and add a decent section in the middle.
Not contemplating doing it to this house but I have never seen this mentioned anywhere and thought it might be a good way to get extra room [ and storage space in the roof ] assuming the block the house sits on was wide/deep enough.
