Fitting new door jamb to steel posts
I have a project coming up soon where I need to put a new door and jamb between two 75 x 75mm steel posts. The house has been recently raised to nearly 2500mm clearance underneath and the idea is to eventually enclose the "downstairs" area. It is supported on a series of 75 x 75mm steel posts and there is a gap of 1050mm between 2 of the posts which we want to fit a door. As the door is only 820mm wide, we need to "pack out" the opening to reduce the gap so the door can be installed. What is the best way of doing this and what is the best way of attaching the timber to the steel posts without affecting the strength of the posts? The door will be exposed to the elements.
