    Default Jarrah Slabs

    A few pics of a Jarrah Log slabbed up this week, had a wild grain that waved its way up log. Got 10 nice slabs by 2.4m

    Great looking stuff.

    Did you think about milling it 90º to the direction you did? It looks like the slabs would have been a little wider?

    It could be that the cracks which are running parallel to the cuts in the centre of the log may run too far into the log, therefore eliminating any advantage of a wider slab.

    KevM was on the money with the crack Bob, wider slabs would have been nice.
    Hi Willy I am not associated with John, I believe he is Featured Wood?. Was that you featured in the AWR vol 72.
    We must catch up one day soon Miltzy, still working on the winch idea for slabbing just using gravity to make it a little easier.
    Hears a few pic of a Curl log slabbed this week, 800mm by 3.7m. with the little princess cheeking out dads handy work.

    Hi Nifty, it is a FPC Log good spotting there, slabbing it up next week, its hard to find really good ones. I am crossing my fingers it cuts ok.
