    Default warranted superior hand saws.

A week ago i bought a hand saw which i thought was an old Disston it was rusty and the madelion had eagle in the center, but i've since found it is a Warranted Superior saw that was made by Disston .i'v looked up the Disstonion site and found the madelion is different in so far as the madelion on my saw has a ring of dots around the eagle and the one on the Disstonion site dosen't .Question :::can anyone tell me anymore about these Warranted Superior medelion's ,or point me to another site with more information about Disston saws, madelions ect.Lloyd.

    Hi Loyd,

Disston wasn't the only maker who used "warranted superior" medallions, there are a number of others with eagles, Simmonds for example used an eagle on their warranted superior medallions, and in the UK a "warranted superior" medallion with a coat of arms was used by any number of makers.

I would be interested in seeing a photo of the one you have.

    Regards

A lot of the saws made by Disston, were not finished to as high a standard as their regular saws, to be labelled as Warrented Superior. I have a couple, alongside numerous Disstons, and don't find much difference in quality, just finish.

Posting a picture or two would the experts to help too. One of the whole saw, and a close up of the medallion. Also the etch if it's visible.

for the record, I'm not one of the experts
