Baby cot
Hi all
Here are some pictures of a babys cot that I finished last week. The Timber is houn pine for the slats (or bars) and walnut stained tas oak for the rest.
The cot hardware was from Timbecon I think.(brain not working)
The two white knobs that locate the rail slide had not been finished prior to the shots being taken.
cheers

Wow, that's absolutely beautiful! did the hardware come for a specific design/kit or did you design it your self? great work either way!

I meant the frown for my brain siezing up and not remembering where I bought the hardware from.
The plan was out of my earlier working brain!
Oh and meant to say that it was built using triton gear, frustrating but got there in the end.
cheers

Looks fantastic Drago! We just paid $700 for a stained pine screw'n'glue job from a baby shop. (baby's due in two weeks! aahh!). I wish I ad the skill, time, and equipment to build something like that. Well done.
Two questions though.
What did you finish it with?
How did do the M&T joints for the slats, theres a hell of a lot of them,Cheers,
Adam

Hi Linelefty
I used biscuits (ducks as purists hurl chisels) to join them on the rails top and bottom. It is finished in wattly estapol gloss (gets hit in head with french polishers mop).
Seriously though I used biscuits because I knew that provided the slats were exactly the right length that it would go together okay. I wouldnt use estapol again but was excited after completing one of the ends and couldnt wait to see it finished so used what I had on the shelf. The family love it so I suppose thats okay. I will be moving "up" the shelf on the next piece I make
cheers

Cot fittings
Drago,
Very nice cot. I'm struggling to find similar hardware for the sliding side (as yours look nice)...couldn't find it on the timbecon website. There's some on the carbatec wa site, but they don't look as good. Do you remember where you got yours from?
And while I'm at it...where did you get your plan from?
Any help much appreciated.

Hi Whisk
The hardware is from carbatec in WA and was about $21.00.
The plans I made up myself by first getting the mattress and designing it around that. I have just got back from holidays and have been asked to write an article for the triton newsletter and hope to have that done by next monday so I will try and add a copy here.
Cheers
