The drunk & the copper (true story)
Have a friend who is a member of the Victorian Police and he delights in telling everyone about the time he was on point duty outside Flinders Street station in Melbourne.
Our policeman is a tall character but very slender and it was the middle of summer and very hot, the constable in question elected on this day to wear the regulation pith helmet (the type of hard hat with a brim that you see safari operators wear).
Busy in the centre of the intersection a drunk staggers out from Young & Jacksons and confronts our loyal member and comments "You look like a bloody roofing nail" and walks off. He never wore that hat again.Stupidity kills. Absolute stupidity kills absolutely.
