Steel joists for a 4 x 4.5 deck
Hi, I need some advice.
I have a 4 x 4.5 walled storage area that I want to put a deck over. Headroom is an issue so I want to keep the joists as small as possible.
I'm considering steel joists.
The joists will be supported on the walls, so overall span would be 4m. I think I'll also put in a central bearer and some posts, reducing the span to 2m.
The decking (cleverwood) calls for 450 max joist centres, but I could go smaller (400) if needed.
What size RHS do you think I should use?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave
