I have a caravan....must be home made. It has 6 lovely windows. As I hope you can see the pictures it would make it easier than trying to explain them!

I am not sure how old the caravan is.....seems people in area can date it back 50 or 60 years. The windows had pretty much no paint left on them....easy. All of the old putty.....Linseed I assume......had crumbled away. What was left just fell of at the touch.....also easy. They are sanded beautifully smooth and ready to go.

I am curious to know other peoples ideas and experiences in fixing glass in.....especially in older windows that would have had Linseed putty. I have done similar old windows before and I used Linseed putty. Personally I had a couple of problems with it though. Namley....MICE....and also the drying time. I like the finish of it though and wonder if old windows deserve to have the putty. What's my other option.....silicone. I also was wondering if anyone knows how long Linseed putty lasts in the windows. The temperature here is very hot in summer 30 is cool. I am thinking that the heat and also the sun would quicken the life of putty.....? So I have to take that into account too.

If any one has any recommendations or advice on the topic I would be very appreciative. I live in a small town in a remote area and it's not easy to find info on these kinds of topics round town!

Thanks so much and happy renovating everyone. The creating keeps me going strong.
