Can't get the new TV Channel 90, but get channel 94 - a bit weird
I retuned the TV yesterday, full of excitement at getting the cricket in HD from Channel 90.
Well all i get from channel 90 is the Audio (which is the correct audio), and a black screen. The TV thinks it's a radio station.
The curious thing is that I get channel 94 properly, and it was released on the same day.
I did quick scan, full scan, and even tried to do it manually by tuning to 161.625Mhz (from memory there).
Anyone else having problems?

Perhaps a stupid question but is your TV HD capable?
I had no problem getting to watch the cricket last night. Now proudly sponsored by Binford Tools. Be sure to check out the Binford 6100 - available now at any good tool retailer.

We are on WIN TV in Rocky and as yet they have not updated their setup to include the HD on their primary channel.

Channel 9 decided not to pay the paltry $6m to enable 9hd on regional networks such as win so said viewers won't get it until mid next year at the earliest.
The video feed requires mpeg4 decoding. If you have audio and not video, despite your bravia being hd capable, you won't get 9hd picture.

Spot on about the decoder. Townsville will never get this HD transmission, from the looks of it

Sony claim the their Bravia TV's can do an online update, not sure how it works. Might be worth an enquiry to Sony Australia who might be able to point you to where to get the update online if you don't already have your TV connected to the internet - usually an Ethernet cable connection.

Have you checked your signal strength? I'm in Melbourne and when I recently bought a new TV which was also a Sony Bravia and I didn't have video on channel 90 either, only audio. A auto scan missed the station altogether. Called up some antenna mob who came and measured the signal strength. I knew the antenna was shot as it was 30 years old. After changing the antenna, the signal was so good that he didn't have to touch any cabling and now I get beautiful channel 90 plus everything else. I would say firstly go on myswitch to find out if you can receive all your channels but I'm pretty sure you should if you can get 94. Then next you'll have to find out if your antenna system is any good. You can get a digital signal meter and see what signals you receive. These are cheap meters and supposed to used in conjunction with your TV tuner to get to a particular frequency. You can then decide whether its your TV or your antenna or it's just your location.

Thanks for that. Actually had a brand new aerial fitted about 6 weeks ago. At first they tried a quick fix, and said that I might find it might drop out at night. This was the case so they came back and put the new rig in.
I'll call them and see what i can find out.

Hmmm... 90 is in the 9 'family' of channels?
'Cos recently we've noticed that the GEM channel incorrectly has the audio for cricket. We didn't know about the new channel(s?) so perhaps a rescan will fix that.
(If I can be bothered, that is. )
