Default White shellac over burnishing oil

Just curious weather there is any issues with using shellac over burnishing oil, I was able to get a great finish with burnishing oil/EEE ultra shine on blackwood cupboards I am in the process of making, but it just lacks a finished sealed look. Was thinking of just applying a light coat of shellac to bring out the shine and a sealed look. Any tips and problems would be great.

Since you've already used EEE cream, which, by the way is not a finish, but a cutting compound, I suggest you use UBeaut Traditional wax. This will give an excellent finish. But I'm intrigued to know why you put EEE over the burnished HBO in the first place. You should have had a brilliant finish with just the oil!

    Regards,

Abit of a miss under standing I know EEE is cutting compound and got a polished finish, what I'm after is a shellac hard wearing finish rather than a wax finish if that explains it better.

    Hi Goldy,
I understand the desire for a tough finish, but that is what HBO gives you. A finish that is resistant to liquid (hot and cold) radiant heat, wine spills and it cleans with Spray and Wipe. So I'm just curious as to how the oil looked after you had burnished it.
These two tables are finished in HBO and nothing else. They are high traffic tables and show no damage after nearly four years. In fact, one was sent to a client who still can't believe how resilient the finish is. I don't see any reason why you couldn't use Shellac over the oil, but I suggest you contact Neil as to whether it can be used over EEE cream (which is wax based).

    Regards,

    Rob
