Question regarding extension cords
We just checked the connections on our caravan cord.
Instead of the copper wiring being shiny it is black. We cut about a metre off it and it is still black.
Is it time to throw the cord out and get a new one?

Wolfie, I am no electrician, but that does not sound right. So get another extension lead. It's better to be safe than sorry with electricity.

Moisture ingress has caused oxidization of the copper.
This will effect the ability to achieve a good connection at the terminals.
Replacement is advisable.
Also get the new 15amp cord test and tagged.

Thanks David
We found the double connection, for power and air con, had water in it so thought that was a problem.
It is in the bin now and a new one will be bought.
