my favourite prooftint stains no longer available :(
went down to bunnings to replenish my supply of F&W prooftint rosewood stain to find it not available
not only that, several others that i regularly use are also NA eg: red green blue etc
the rest of the "usual suspects" colour range is also pretty narrow
my practice is to mix these stains into lacquer as a transparent tinting medium which is then shot over the piece usually in 3 or 4 layers or until i get the required colour depth and level of opacity - i know that everyone is using the new varnish stains because they are easy to use but totally NA to guitar finishing
i would love to know about a brand of spirit based stains that is available locally in a decent range of coloursray c
dunno what's more fun, buyin' the tools or usin' em'

I use Wattyl Traditional Stains with Pre-Cat Lacquer, might be worth a try:

you sure its not just a line bunnings are dropping because F&W won't sign an exclusive deal.
might still be available at mitre 10 or a masters.
Gte on the F&W website and see who else stocks it.

feast and watson don't list rosewood or the other colour[s]
bunnings shelf display is a F&W rack showing the same colours as on F&W website
in other words bunnings has all the available colours
i might post a shout to all and sundry to see if some one has some they can spare
i am in the middle of a job and have run out -ray c

Well I can go to my local and see if they have rosewood.
If they do I'll get them for ya.
Keep your fingers crossed.

This may or may not come as a surprise.

Not sure if they still supply Masters as I have never been in one but I had "heard" that there had been an issue.
Found it.
