Very impressive "oneye"... a lot of time & effort has gone into this project, well done.
    It's come up a treat.
Who's the train for or is it a keeper?
Am I correct to say the train is not all maple?
Which plans did you use or is this an original from photos/pictures?
    Cheers, crowie

It is all maple. it is out of all american wooden toy book by norm marshall.
This one is not a keeper i will take it to next craft show.
I seldom make keepers because i always seem to find a new timber more interesting than the last.
I do have a train made out of curly cherry that i am keeping until something more interesting comes along.
Thanks everyone for the interest and the kind words.

Looks great Oneye. I like the simplicity of the one timber colour (with exception of the wheels) as it adds to the detail involved.
Now that you have the train out of the way you may need to head over to the renovation forum and get some plaster on that wall

    Cheers

That is so adorable. It must be fun making that project. Do the wheels turn?

    The wheels turn.
Here are a few pics how i made the axle holders.
The bottom piece is 2 and 1/2 by 2 and 3/4 with a 1 by 1/2 notch out of each corner.
I drill the 5/16 inch holes before notching.
The hole is 1/4 inch from end.
The spacer is 1 and 3/4 by 2.
I use 1 and 1/4 inch diameter wheels 7/16 thick.
The wheel cover is 3/4 by 2 and 1/4 by 1/8 inch thick.
Hope this helps any more questions feel free to ask.
