Finishing Maple Staircase
I have a new Qld Maple staircase that requires finishing. I have to stain it to match grey ironbark ( tones of brown) flooring. I understand that I can either add tint/pigment to polyurethane when applying the first coat or first apply shellac or Feast Watson Fungishield and then stain. I will be finishing off with a solvent based finish in either satin or gloss
I am trying find out which would look better and which would be easier to maintain in future.

As I am concerned about blotching Qld Maple has anybody used Charles Neil's anti-blotch product.
