Searching for mobile saw mill in Tasmania
I'm in the process of hauling some old beams that have washed up on the shore near my house that appear to be from an old jetty of some description.
I am hoping that someone in the Hobart area knows of a mobile sawmill that would be able to mill these big beams into slabs for me?
If so whats the going rate to have a beam approx 3000 x 400 x 200 sliced into 3 or 4 slabs?
Hope you can help.
Cheers,
Paul

I know a few in the Huon Valley but I doubt they'll mill second hand timber.
I'll ask and get back to you.Geoff

Cheers mate.
I've called a few people in the greater Hobart region and have had no luck.
Would be happy to let someone with a chainsaw and a guide go through it as a last resort.

Hi,
I'm in the Huon Valley, I do go out to Hobart area for jobs but it would have to be worth my travel. What I usually do in case of a very small job is get the logs (in this case beams) picked up and have timber ready to be collected or delivered.
How many beams @ 3000x400x200?
Minimum charge to come out is $500
If I was to get them brought to me:
I'd say depending on where you are around $150 for transport here
Around $50 per beam for milling into slabs (provided beams are clean from foreign objects)
I could drop the timber off for about an other $50 when I go out that way.
I'll PM you my contact details and be happy to have a look at the beams when I'm out your way.
I hope that gives you an indication of price,
Bernt

This old question Needs New Answers ??
Hi
My neighbour is looking for someone to come out and mill a few logs.
I believe they are blue gum cut a while ago and stacked properly off the ground.
He had someone come out once before but has lost the details
He is not computer or internet savvy so I offered to help him using this medium
He is at Geeveston and would love anyone who may be able to assist contact him directly
or if they like he will contact them - just pm me.
Just wondering - a list of folks providing services would be half useful on here
Cheers

Anyone needing milling done in the north east (Tasmanian ), we can help you. We have three mills operating to accomodate mobile milling, band saw slabbing, and large beams up to 8.6 metres long.
