BASS WOOD
My son wants to buy some bass wood. The last bit he bought was from
Australian Furniture Timber but they have now closed down, and he doesn't know where else he can get it. Could someone please advise me where else he can get it in Melbourne.

Not much use on places in Melbourne, but if he is looking for 'carving blocks' both Lee Valley and Rockler sell them on-line. From time to time Rockler also have 'bargain boxes' of off cuts sold by weight - various veneers, exotic hardwoods as well as wood for carving.

Are you talking about the light coloured Australian rainforest edge timber used for instarsia?
If so have plenty, what sizes do you need?
Thanks

Wood
Thank you for the replys. My son wanted some Bass Wood to do some work on his boat. He has since bought some American White Oak to do this.

If its not too nosey, may i ask, do you know where he got his white oak from? I'm after a bit myself and have had very little luck trying to find a local supplier.
