Default Fair crack of the whip.

G'day all, it only took me 3 years to do my first post.

So a little about me - did my trade as a carpenter & joiner back in the late 80ies. From there I got my builders licence in the early 90ies. Did my apprenticeship with the Master Builders Association in Adelaide, south Australia. I have lived in Adelaide, Sydney, Perth, Melbourne and regional Victoria and NSW.

Now I'm really wanting to get into wood turning. The big bit a couple of years ago but I've only been able to do a two week stint and a few 'one off' sessions since. As soon as I have a workshop set up I plan to get into full time woodwork from home so I can watch my 3 young children grow up.

I love renovating and working with old homes - it can be a challenge but one worth the effort. I've tried my hand at many aspects of building work. Being in a small regional town makes getting trades more of a challenge and when doing smaller jobs it is more cost effective at times just to do all you legally can yourself.

I like the way you think Dave. Getting other trades when YOU want them is a big ask.I would say it would work out cheaper for the client to do as much as you can your self.
A very noble ambition, to watch your kids grow up. I hope you can see it through.
Make sure you keep "us nosey people" up to date with your workshop journey and we will need lots of pics of your wood turning
    Just do it!

    Kind regards Rod

Will do, it's not gonna be for another 6 months till I have my workshop I reckon. In the first 2 weeks of turning I made about 100 pens or so.

Last week I did an experiment with multi axis turning. It's only good for the fire heap but was interesting to do.
