Default How to 'clean up' runs of Hard Shellac??

    Hi..

Despite careful masking and a generally sucessful process I have a couple of spots on raw timber where my masking has failed, and there are some hard shellac patches where they shouldn't be.

I have tried rubbing with ethanol, but the spots are still apparent.

    I haven't tried sanding yet.

I want to use U-Beaut water soluble dyes on the timber.

What is the best way to 'clean' off the hard shellac spills?

    TIA

Shellac flakes are disolved in meths so I would think that the only thing to do is rub with a rag diped in meths or sand!!

G'day Rob - Sandpaper's looking pretty good right now isn't it. The beautiful but Ruffly Rustic one has pretty much hit the nail right on the head. Thats about the only way you'll get it all off because it will also have soaked in pretty well to boot.

Peter - this is Hard Shellac, it has a cross linking effect and metho really won't look at it once it's dry.

    Cheers - Neil
