    Default Newbee from Bendigo

    Hi all.
I've joined as a member of the hobby metalworker brotherhood....
I've been interested in metalwork all my life and have accumulated a few tools and machines over the decades to allow me to attempt most things I want to.
But the game rule is of course: he who dies with the most toys wins....

My main interests are in the restoration of old and odd motorcycles and other vehicles. Some start with few original parts and the rest has to be replicated from scratch..... some restorers frown on it, but I think the parts I got hold of are generally the only one that survived the death of a vehicle - so I'm not making forgeries, but replacing the lost or wasted rest and bringing another one back to life - without ever hiding the replica nature of my work.

Anyway, I'm happy with my recycled little lathe, recycled 'Cash' horizontal mill and recycled 'Desouter' drill press - all considered dead and buried by their previous owners. I also have an elderly stick welder, horizontal bandsaw and various smaller powered and compressed air tools.
I am looking for a slightly bigger and more versatile lathe, which is what brought me in contact with Derek (bitsa500) and this forum.
    Thanks Derek!

    Cheers,
    Joe

Thanks everyone for the nice weolcome!
I look forward to learning a bit more about the Bendigonians here!

@ torech: which of the - at a wild guess - 50 pubs in Bendigo are you asking about? Bendigo has around 110,000 thirsty inhabitants now....

    Cheers,
    Joe

Well done, Torech! That pub has now changed it's name to "Spring Gully Hotel" and recently extended, added a restaurant and an outdoor beergarden and changed management. I have no idea who now ownes it....
    Cheers,
    Joe

Welcome Joe haven't seen you in quiet awhile. The Model Engineers are still going strong. We have formed and alliance with Menshed Bendigo and we have started building a 500sqm shed in Long Gully ( see Menshed thread) We are finally getting around to building a track which will be at the same site. Give me a ring and I'll fill you in on whats happening.look under Jim Stein in Strathfieldsaye.
