Saw that and spoke with a few people. Dave was great.
Given I live in the very next suburb, it seems remiss not to just go have a stare.....

We seem to have a lot Davids, Allans, Johns, Freds but they are all wonderful.
It was a fantastic weekend for the Guild with our Young Achievers being won by one of my 14 year old sig members and the grand champion by one of our professional pyrographer and good friend of mine.
Hope everyone else had a great time, too and everyone is getting a well deserved rest!

Hmmm, a problem then. This particular gentleman was distinguished, educated and knew a fantastic amount on many of the members. I met him about 4pm Saturday arvo and spoke at length on the club, turning, the people, many of the pieces of art, a surprising conversation that advised me that Richard Raffan was a Canberran (I'm reading his book right now... I thought he was English).
I took a brochure and absolutely intend becoming a member once I've saved the fee.
Many of the pieces were stupendous. I was terribly impressed.

Richard is English but has called Canberra home for quite a few years now.

I suspect you were talking to Dave on the sales table who is a wonderful person and volunteer.
Yes, Richard does travel between Australia and England but when in Aus, he is a local and we are very, very lucky and grateful to have him as part of our guild. Membership includes access to any of the courses run by the guild including some of Richards where members get professional instruction from an incredible woodworker.
We always welcome new members and our open shed days are Tues, Wed and Thurs but there is always someone around on the weekends for a sig but if in doubt, go to the website at Woodcraft Guild ACT and look at the calendar under 'activites' to see exactly what is happening and when.
The pyrography special interest group is on this Sunday (8th Sept), 10am - 4pm at the guild shed and guests are welcome.
