Hehe... OK... so... hmmm...
You're in a room with three switches that operate three lightbulbs in a separate room and you don't know which switch turns on which light. How do you find out which switch goes to which lightbulb by entering the other room only once? You don't have any help, you can't see the other room while you are in the room with the other switches or vice versa, you can't make any device that extends your reach into the other room, etc.

Turn on one switch for ten minutes then turn it off.
Turn on one other light.
Go to the other room.
One light will be cold, one warm and one on. Each can then be matched to a switch.

Just to fill in some time while Groggy locates his puzzle books...
...I spotted this mnemonic in the newspaper. Can you work out what it's a mnemonic for?

(As a bonus question, can you tell my it's not considered correct today?)

Oh, and Pluto isn't a planet any more.... Apparently he's not up to it anymore. Do they have Viagra for planets?...but together with the coffee civility flowed back into him

A woody one...
When James was nine years old he hammered a nail into a tree to mark his height. Ten years later, James returned to see how much higher the nail was. If the tree grew by four inches each year, how much higher would the nail be?
Cheers,
Dave...but together with the coffee civility flowed back into him

As high as when he nailed it in when he was 9, trees grow from the top. But as a woodie I am not happy with James as his nail stuffed the blades on the thicknesser
It's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.

Not really what we have been doing in this thread but thought some might like to try it. I posted it a few years ago so first to save the planets wins...
Enjoy

A man looks in a mirror but the face looking back at him is not his. How can this be?

It's a two way mirror, he's looking at the see through side and there's someone else on the other side

A man is crossing the road when he sees a car heading straight for him. He freezes in his tracks and is hit head on by the vehicle but miraculously survives without a scratch.
Why?
