At the top of the page, it says to back-pedal to IE8 because it works well and has no problems with the forums. Not true.
My issues, from the beginning, were with IE8/XP SP3 and the same goes for many others.

Reverting to IE8 will not fix the many problems.

I'm also pretty sick of stuffing around using my usual browser for everything else and a special one for these forums. Too much confusion with Favorites/Bookmarks, (if I add one to IE I also need to add it to Firefox), and also having to copy links from Outlook Express and paste them into Firefox to view subscribed threads, since Firefox isn't the default browser.
I'm uninstalling firefox and if this site doesn't work well, I won't visit. Simple.
This place just isn't that important to me in the scheme of things. Just one more website. No others have insisted on me using a particular browser to view their site, rather than fix their problems. I had less problems with the free phpBB software on my forums than there are with the (paid-for) vBulletin software. They should clean up their act.

Edit: The other problem I struck with using Firefox, were I to make it the default browser and use it for everyrthing, is that the Bookmarks are not accessible in a folder like IE's Favorites for regular data backup.

So, the real fix is to resort to name-calling? Like Neil calling those of us who wouldn't switch from IE to Firefox pigheaded. Fine, you can keep your forums. If the issues are not being addressed, I'm not interested in the site.

And we're not 'wingers', we're whingers. Learn your own language.

Hey, Lord or duke or whatever you think you are, we just want to use the forums like the rest of you without nightmares.
We have been asked what our issues are and we have responded to those.
But to be then told you've got to do it this way using that software and blah blah etc etc isn't really satisfactory.
I'm betting if you had troubles with something with no real answers you'd get peeved as well.
I used an old version of firefox, did the upgrade to 15 and then 16 and it gives me more trouble than its worth.
I have now gone back to what I have used with NO trouble on EVERY other site.
Just means I have to use the basic editor.
If I REALLY want to do an attachment I may fire up IE.
    I don't want to use IE 8 or 9.

I'm so happy you have no troubles.

Listen, as pointed out by Peter, this is a thread for people to report their problems with the upgrade.
You have no problems and aren't posting to help, merely to have a shot at those that do post.
Perhaps you should just keep your big mouth shut, and if you don't like what we say, don't read the bloody thread.

If more people read this thread they wouldn't keep coming up with the same problems that have been discussed adnauseum.

    Default Closed for maintenance.

The admins are currently busy with other tasks but will be back to review the remaining problems soon. For now the thread has been closed as no new issues are being recorded and the current discussions are just burying the problems reported further.

This thread may re-open when the admins have a chance to catch up. In the mean time post #1 and #12 is recommended reading.

Fact of the matter is that the problems are with vBulletin and there is nothing that the admins or moderators can do to fix this other than give the same advice to everyone using IE9 and that is to get another browser. We can't fix it, we have to wait for vBulletin to fix it or for Microsoft to fix it.

Everything that can be done from our end has been done. To anyone who says they will leave because of the massive problems, all I can do is say that is your choice. Nothing more I can do. If people leave they may be missed, they may no be, nothing I can do about that either. If people perceived to be such a massively and terrible problem, then I shudder to think what will happen the same people if ever they have a real life problem.

I do apologise to all those paying members who are having troubles...... Oh. No wait, there are none it's free.

I'm the one out of pocket for the forums not anyone else and believe me when I say if there was an easy fix or even a hard one I would throw handfuls of extra money at it to get it done, however to date there doesn't appear to be one.

There hasn't been a response to this for a while as those of us dealing with it have been a little busy with exhibitions and real work commitments, etc. The answer to the bulk of the problems was given and there doesn't seem to be anything new to add other than up until now I'm pretty sure that there haven't been any complaints about IE8 not working but there's the same simple fix for that. See the notice at the top of the screen if you haven't figured it out for yourselves.

    Neil
