One question
How do u a line a your saw plate after punching your holes
So ever thing fits when u go to put the saw together
My method works but find it is tedious
Hence why I like to drill with the saw plate clamped in the saw handle slot in position
Just trying to get other ideas here
Cheers
Matt

Hi Matt,
I use transfer punches, 28 Pcs 3 32 1 2" Transfer Punch by 64th Set Punches | eBay
to mark the plate then punch the holes as I described above.
Cheers,
Rob

Anybody here interested in split nuts?
Hi All,
I am considering bulk production of the small saw screws that I am using. I plan to narrow the screwdriver slot to 0.040"-0.045". At first I will make 7/16" diameter, 1/2" and 9/16" will come later depending on demand. Would anybody here be interested in such screws if they are priced in the $4-$5 dollar range/ea. for small quantities and about 30% less for larger quantities?
Thanks,
Rob

Rob. Can I make the suggestion you consider increasing the length of thread on your saw bolts. Apologies for converting your drawing dimensions into metric but we tend to understand this system more than imperial here in Australia. I would make it at least 5mm As you have it now your only allowing 1.23mm play to handle thickness between with the saw nut wound right down and being flush to the top thread. 21.10mm to 22.32mm. Mighty tight tolerance. May pay to enquire the members as to the range in saw handle thickness they prefer working with. It most likely above the max your allowing. Also, do you plans to supply a star lock washer to suit with each of your saw bolt assemblies.
Stewie;
Rob. I just rechecked your saw bolt drawing. Would I be right in suggesting the depth of thread should show 0.20" and not .020".

Peter,
I'm going to look further into the issue but Ebay here is offering a new international shipment option. My first appreciation is that it may be possible to post offerings of these screws using the standard USPS flat rate boxes and have them go international for the same price as domestic. They start at $5.80 and go up to about $17 for the 'large' size boxes. I'll check into it today and post what I learn.
Cheers,
Rob

Seems that Ebay adds international post to the domestic rate. Looking around at listings I found one that ships 500g to the US for $25Aus. Each screw-nut combined weighs 7.93 gm, add a few mg for a lock washer and let's say 8 gm total/screw.

For 10 screws.

I have been packing the screws by cutting slots into this structural foam, inserting the screw and then wrapping with tape. A block of the foam that would completely fill the smallest flat rate box weighs 21.5 gm.

The box goes 53 gm.

Lets say another 30 gm. for tape giving us a packing total of 104.5 gm for packing leaving us 395.5 gm for screws. 395.5 gm/8 gm/screw = 49.3 screws. I have checked the dimensions of the foam and I can fit 17 screws across and 5 down for a total capacity of 85 screws, thus fitting 50 is not a problem. The total mass of a full, 85 screw package would be 785 gm or so. I'd sell you guys the screws in this quantity for $3.00US each so the price would be $150US + post for 50 and $255US for 85 and I'll pay the postage.
It will take me a month or so to have the new design in my hands. I have 79 of the old design now.
Thanks,
Rob

OK, Postage from the US can be cheap if you use the pre-made boxes that are for VIDEO"S.
You'll have to get the post office to get them in as most don't carry them anymore (but its listed on their website).
But it has a fixed price to AUS of 23 bucks for on-line and 24 if you do it at a PO, And you can go up to 4 pounds.
Its bigger than the small flat rate box but its the same price.
And a lot bigger thhan the dvd box that is also the same rate. 5/8 inch vs 2 inch thick box.
