Been away myself for the weekend and it is surprising how much work gets done on some of the models on here. The stagecoach has certainly come along while I have been away and is looking fantastic.
It is so easy to try and speed up towards the end especially as the model take shape and you can not wait to see the end product. I know on one occasion I did just that and ended up having to rebuild part of it.

Digger,
You are right about the urge to speed up. I'm hoping that being away for a while will have the effect of making me review the progress before jumping in and trying to hurry and finish. Maybe I'll pause work on the actual coach and do the rifles, luggage, etc before getting back to it.
Cheers,
Jim

After the Holiday traffic and torrential rain, it's nice to be back. It doesn't seem like much but I did reinforce the chassis, attached the rope and chain for the kickboard and luggage rack and dry fit the wheels so I could take some package pics. I'm a bit disappointed in the center flip up benches in the coach....may try to replace them with upholstered foam instead of the faux leather just being glued to a plank. On the other hand the rope and chain seem to be about right.
Cheers,
Jim

Digger, Hermit, Wongo,
Thanks for stopping by.
Finally got around to working on the baggage, etc. The green lockbox had 35 parts! I think I made a few whole kits with less than that in my youth......plastic...
This is the detail part that wears out ones nerves quite quickly....can't count the number of times a 'twitch' prevented me from fitting a part. Oh well, I guess if it was easy it wouldn't be half the satisfaction upon completion.....
Cheers,
Jim

Complete.....is it ever really?
Digger, Anja, Bret, 557, Eddie, Wongo,
Thank you for visiting during my build. I appreciate your comments and that you take the time to look.
Since there are always tweaks that can be done, I'll not say it is completely complete...
But it is time to find a good display place and move on to my next project.
Some notes on the kit:
This is a very well done kit. It was either introduced or reintroduced in 2010 and I think the quality of the parts and instructions is very high.
There is a need to add some supplies not included. The most important being .5mm straight pins. I found that the supplied pins were too large for the holes and scale and the recommendation to use .7mm wire for those needs was not a good idea. The pin caps do act as part of the hold and finish. There were many square washers supplied to be used to 'cap' the wire but I found that was not a very useful method. Besides the miniscule size, the caps and wire were almost impossible to fit to look right (in my opinion).
Adhesives.....put most of it together with Titebond 2. But also used CA, rubber cement and 3M spray adhesive.
Titebond for wood to wood.
CA for metal-metal and metal-wood, for anywhere faux leather was supposed to be a strap such as in the openings and around the luggage.
Rubber cement for paper to wood and painted surface.
3M spray adhesive for faux leather to foam board and faux leather to wood.
Paint. This was a mash of all the different kinds of paint I've collected over the years.
The yellow is a Chrysler lacquer with no clear coat. Wanted the yellow but not the shine.
The red is Krylon. Both were primed with Krylon grey primer...light or dark.
The Black is semi-gloss enamel.
The other colors on the bags, guns, etc. are a mixture of acrylics, enamels and sharpie.
I would highly recommend this kit.
When I get a chance, I'll take it outside and find some desert to shoot pics........
Cheers,
And Thanks again!
Jim
