Thanks Guys for all your positive comments about the day. It was great to have you all and to meet and make some new friends. Thanks Harry for the blade swap on the jointer. It was a good demo and everyone seemed to appreciate the experience. Thanks also to Zenwood for bringing along his scraper kit and burnishing my scrapers. I can see now that scrapers are like planes, you need many, not just one. Thanks also to Mike for the hunk of wood that I am yet unable to identify (was it Silky Oak Mike?)and to Lefty Jim and I think ???(can't remember)for the bottles of wine. I apologise for my forgetfulness.
Sorry to hear that it took you so long to get home Harry. I was thinking of you while I was doing dishes and thought at about 8.30pm you should be home by about now with maybe one stop for water. Well at least one radiator is better than one motor.
A special thank to for making the effort to come. I hope your stay didn't cost too much at the casino , or maybe SWMBO won enough for you to buy a new lathe!
Look forward to the photos Studley. Thanks to the photographers.
Regards
Trevor

Harry, about your radiator, did you try loosening the radiator cap so that the radiator didn't pressurise and empty all the water on the road?
Just a thought,
woodbe.

Thanks guys,
Just saying thanks to Trev and all the guys at the meet,
I've only been into the woodworking fiasco for a couple of years now, It was great to meet a bunch of guys who are willing to share their knowledge.
Nice to hang out with some genuinely friendly blokes.
I was thinking it might be a little imtimidating walking into a backyard full of woodworking fanatics, but it was'nt, and I'd definately be recommending to other newbies to the forum- get along to a show. I learned a little, drank a little, got sunburned a little and all together had an afternoon to wind down after what was to put it bluntly a b*st*rd of a week.
Special mention again to Trev, you really put in a effort mate, Thanks for showing me and the others such warm hospitality.
Cheers RhettIf you dont play it, it's not an instrument!

A perfect day.
Good weather.
A very obliging host that catered to everyones tastes.
Interesting people that shared their talents and knowledge.
Thank you Trev and the other attendees. It made the detour memorable.
Parking the truck was going to cost me more than Julie at the casino.

Yep did that just made it spew out the cap instead.
I just had to stop once it got hot(bout 50kms) wait 1/2hr then fill her up... discovered some games on my phonebut they were crap
Got a quote today $500 for a new radiator, get a price on a recore tomorrow. I dont think it would be worth fixing the hole as the rad is over 200K old.

OK pictures
Zenwood who has sworn to junk all his Lee Nielsens and get some Festool stuff instead. It is what you could call a light side conversion.

Yep its from the Adelaide Hills Gravillia Robusta I think, thats the main species around here although not speaking with authority. Its been drying for 3 years so it should be ready for a box, I squared that piece a year ago and it looks OK. Watch out for the dust, use a mask even with the dusty its nasty stuff.
Thanks again Trevorand to its was great to meet you and the mob, amazing bloke its not everybody who detours to Adelaide for a BBQ

Anybody wishing to follow on with these waterhole gatherings? Everything has gone quiet since last year. I was thinking about hosting a "happy new (financial) year" party around the last weekend in June or the first in July. Any takers?
