Hamburger from "Jack in the Box" in Austin, Texas. The cardboard box had more flavour than the burger. I only know this because I couldn't chew the burger and I was very hungry .
Oops, sorry title of thread is "Worst Takeaway in Australia" guess Texas doesn't qualify. However the Flakey Jakes at Carrum Downs consistently serves the oiliest grilled Schnapper i've ever tasted. That's what you get when you employ 16 year olds that would rather watch the television than bother to cook the food properly.Last edited by Grumpy John; 14th July 2009 at 12:31 AM. Never seen this thread before but don't EVER order a cheese-dog at the Roma BP servo . It had this 'thing' on it that might have been cheese once but looked more like a huge lump of snot that King Kong would have been proud of. To this day I still get nauseas when I think about it
Lived there for 5 years - only went once and can't remember it being bad - but I'll never forget the Roma cheese-dog

The worst take away food in Australia?
Where do I start? After reading some of these posts I find it remarkable that people sing the praises of the American based outlets (maccas, jacks, kfc etc) because they have clean toilets and a playground . Nothing said about the crappiest food in the known universe. Absolute crap. Wake up to yourselves folks. Didn't anyone teach you to make your kids a sandwich?
The best take away? A Souvlaki from the Nepean Souvlaki Bar in Frankston or fish and chips (slightly crispy thanks) from the Avenel (Northern Victoria) fish and chip shop.

Leo's Spaghetti Bar in St Kilda.
Nothing to look at from the outside, but the best Italian you could have asked for.
