Each to themselves I guess. No offence meant, but if an avitar is offensive to you then maybe you shouldn't go outside where there's alot more offensive things to worry about.

No wonder the minority is going PC and all the rest of the rot.

I think the problem lies in the fact that some things , avatars, jokes , suttle double meanings, etc could if monitered by "Polittically Correct Parents" whos little darling has never seen anything like that , according to them, could cause Carry a problem, and as a teacher finds it better not to suggest this or I would think any forum, Imagine If one of his students got involved with some bottom feeding preditator they met on a forum that he as their teacher recomended.:mad: Even though it was a woodwork, needlework , or anything at all and was recomended with the best of intentions.

Really, it is a sad state of affairs though that you can't suggest something useful because of the potential for backlash. Sad, but unfortunately true...

I'm a noob for another week or so...yep, I reckon this is a welcoming forum: lots of encouraging advice and good conversations, several meet&greet barbeques, and a few one-on-one shed tours and getting on the turps with Studley, plus secret handshakes at the woodworking shows, pancake recipies and foilie designs (all ineffective, hehe!). And still only one member on my ignore list, and just one red from Zed.

Haven't heard of the purple circle (something to do with MFKL? a stalwarts-only thing?), or Ruffly's "Club".

Don't say that too loudly or it might be remedied!

As for the purple circle - that was brought up in a discussion about newbie bashing and thus prompted this poll to see what people think (including those who aren't members).

As for Ruffly's club, it is all to do with listening to the wood. See here for where it started:

I know that a lot of members think that all this political correctness stuff is a load of BS and some of it maybe, but the fact is that is exists and we have to live with it.
I can easily see carry pine's point of view and it is very valid. The question is, do we want to the forums able to be viewed by anyone from anywhere, or do you guys want your little eccentricities that badly?
