Until I revisited this thread I did not appreciate how long ago I acquired one of Stewies chamfer planes: nudging four years!
Recently he sent me a revised version of the plane with the wedge sitting behind the blade, which is now in full contact with the box section.

This was performed on some scrap Tallowwood: Not the easiest of timbers. I also chamfered the edges on a piece of Silky Oak and it absolutely ate that.
